Trixbox implementation at home :)

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Last Wednesday, I received my long time waiting “2 SIP phones and 1 FXS/FXO machine”.
and as I already know how start working, I downloaded the latest version from Trixbox Trixbox CE, and as it’s very simple straight a head installation , it took from me 1 hour to complete the installation. actually it didn’t ask me for any kind of configuration, only root password!!.

and by accessing the web interface for trixbox, I configured 3 extensions 11,12,13 and then I introduced the telephones to my family as a simple central at home.

Until now, I didn’t configured Trixbox to work with the PSTN(the normal line) because I didn’t find the chance to configure the FXS/FXO machine!!, FXO is the only needed solution to jump from IP network to the normal PSTN network.

I ordered my phones and the FXS/FXO from voipsupply.com, and since they don’t ship to saudi arabia, I choosed to go for Shop&Ship from Aramex and I paid their fee 35$ to have my po box in USA. then I ordered the phones through that mail box.

Here are the IP phones I ordered: 2 phones of this type
SIP Phone

and one FXS/FXO , which is the more important to have if you want to have your IP phone network (central) to communicate with the PSTN
FXS/FXO

The network is working fine since last Thursday, and very simple too. and the most interesting, my mom starts calling my brothers and sisters through the IP phones to their computers because they have a softphone installed in their computers :)
