Today I logged in to my account in Saudi Fransi Bank, and I got this page which a bit kind of funny, How dare a bank will let their internal SQL statements to become visible to anybody logged to his account!!

Good morning Security Managers

Why do we see many of our companies do not perform correctly? I was looking for an accurate answer for this for long time, but couldn’t find a solid answer until I met a security manager in one of the saudi companies, he was claiming that even if the browser is showing you the certificate was signed verisign.com you cann’t make sure it’s true.
I thought may be he is talking about something more deep like if a virus or worm changed the public key of verisign CA which is shipped and installed in every browser.
I was shocked when he said “We are not talking about digital signature, the certificate could be faked and there is no way to make sure it’s for that company!!”

Another manager I met in the past too, when I told him one of their critical systems was unprotected by strong password and that username could be used to wipe the data on a production system, he replied simply ” we can restore the system from our backup!!!” , he couldn’t understand I was giving an example for the sake of how dangerous to have weak password.

I understand that we might have bad employees with low qualifications, but having bad managers do not understand their basic ABC responsibilities!!

I am confidence that because such unqualified in ABC basic stuff about the job, we’re getting unexpected and the worst performance ever in every job.

As we are a country that depends on Oil as our major income and as much as the price per barrel is getting higher, I get worried and I start thinking of ” What if the oil become very expensive to the level where the alternatives fuels become more reasonable comparing to Oil prices? “.
