Monday, January 5th, 2009

CGEIT is a nice and good certificate for IT managers from ISACA

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

I got the offer from ISACA.org to gain a grandfathering for a certificate called CGEIT ( Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT ).
The certificate focus on areas where we see them are missing in manage organizations. Managers and leaders in different companies tend to claim that they are covering their responsibilities. But the fact is, they don’t!!

CGEIT focuses on those areas:

  • IT Governance Framework
    Defining, establishing and maintaining
    an IT governance framework (leadership,
    organizational structures and processes)
  • Strategic Alignment
Ensuring the link between business objectives
    and IT plans and operations
  • Value Delivery
Optimizing expenses and proving the value
of IT throughout its life cycle
  • Risk Management
    Identifying, assessing, mitigating and managing
    significant enterprise risks
  • Resource Management
Optimizing the allocation of IT resources
    and maximizing their efficiency
  • Performance Measurement
Tracking the delivery of IT projects and
    monitoring IT services

The certificate might not be recognized clearly in our Middle east market, however, it’s a good approach for us to improve our management and direction in managing IT department.

The areas were discussed and detailed in CISA but in the other way around since it was projected for Auditors.
